Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced that LaGuardia Airport’s newly renovated Terminal B will open on Saturday June 13th.
The arrivals and departures in the Central Terminal hall has been under renovation, as well as the rest of the airport, as part of an $8 billion renovation.
Gov. Cuomo called the milestone “invigorating.”
“It’s like when you’re having a child and you talk about it and you see little scans of it and you plan for it, but then it’s indescribable when it actually happens,” Cuomo said.
Terminal B known as the “air gateway to America,”opened in 1964 but it had fallen into such a state of disrepair that former Vice President Joe Biden once described it as something out of a “Third World country.”
